About Our Divorce Lawyer
Vidthiya began her legal career at Hoh Law Corporation as a Legal Associate after being admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2016. She later honed her expertise in contested family litigation as a Dispute Resolution Associate at Drew & Napier LLC in 2018. Returning to Hoh Law Corporation, she served as an Associate Director in 2021 and was later appointed Director from 2022 to 2024, where she dedicated herself to serving community clients.
With a strong track record and numerous satisfied clients, Vidthiya founded Victory Law Chambers LLC in April 2024. She holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Liverpool and actively contributes to the legal community as a Committee Member of the Law Society of Singapore’s Personal Injury and Property Damage Committee. She also serves as a solicitor on the Legal Aid Bureau and Family Justice Support Scheme (FJSS) panels.

Frequently Asked Questions
If the reason for the divorce is contested, the matter will proceed for a trial to give evidence to substantiate their allegations or objections. The Court will make a finding based on the evidence given during cross examination, as well as in the form of the Affidavit of Evidence in Chief before releasing the judgment.
If the reason for the divorce is agreed but the ancillary matters are contested, the first avenue would be to proceed for a mediation if there are children below 21 years old. If mediation fails, the ancillary matters will be decided by the Court after a hearing. Before the hearing, there will be 2 rounds of Affidavits to be exchanged, explaining your position on all the different issues.
There may be a need for further applications to be made in the form of discovery or interrogatories, depending on the circumstances of the case.
Once the matter is fixed for a hearing, the lawyers will have to prepare written submissions. Oral submissions will be made during the hearing by the lawyers. The Court will deliver its decision on the ancillary matters after a few weeks.
The cost of a contested divorce is based on the complexity of the case, the work done during the case and the length of the legal proceedings. If parties are unable to negotiate effectively and reasonably during mediation sessions with the assistance of the lawyers, you will have to prepare for a contested hearing which will inevitably increase legal costs.
As a guide, one can expect contested divorce legal fees to be from $7,000 – $30,000 or more.
Depending on the circumstances of your case, we will require certain mandatory documents such as bank statements, CPF statements, IRAS Notice of Assessment. In addition, we will also suggest certain documentations to demonstrate your direct and indirect financial contributions towards the acquisition and maintenance of the matrimonial assets. As every divorce is different, our suggestions will be based on the client’s circumstances.
For simplified divorces, it takes 4 months to obtain a divorce. For contested matters, it could take between 9 months to 1.5 years depending on the complexities.
